- Chat about Vin Diesel's career is encouraged, as is discussion
about roles we'd love to see him in, fan fiction we are
reading or writing (or have read or written) about his characters,
interactive storytelling, and role-playing games based upon
his movies.
- Vin's private life is his own, and off-limits for discussion.
We would appreciate it if you would also treat all other
celebrities with the same courtesy when in the room -- no
gossip or bashing about any public figure.
- Our chat room is only open to those who are 18 years of
age or older. Do not enter the room if you are younger than
that -- you will be caught and thrown out. Because
our room is adults-only, we allow discussion of racier topics,
but please try to keep within reasonable bounds of good
taste.
- Discussions of religion and politics tend to be extremely
divisive and result in discomfort and hard feelings. This
is a fan site, not a public forum, and not a forum for those
topics. Check them at the door.
- Any behavior which causes discomfort to other users will
result in removal or exclusion from the room, so please
observe the usual social courtesies. If you're trolling
for a fight or looking for a cybersex partner, please hit
the Back button now and go somewhere else.

If this is your first
visit:
- The first thing you will see when the page loads is a
place to put in a nickname . The default nickname
is guest. Please change it to something more personalized
before you connect. For example: iIf you want people
to see the name Bob in the chat window, replace guest
with Bob. If you want a two-word nickname, do not
use spaces. Link the words with a - or a _
mark.
- Once you have the nickname you want in the little window,
click the Connect button. Everything else should
happen automatically.
- The chat room gateway is a Java applet, so a pop-up window
may appear before the chat window loads. If it does, you
will need to grant permission for the software to be downloaded
to your computer. Do this by clicking YES on the
security warning. If you click NO, the applet will
not load, and you may not be able to reload the page at
all without restarting your computer.
- Depending on the speed of your connection, the page may
load slowly. Be patient. For some people, it takes
several minutes to load. Once the applet loads, you will
enter the chat room automatically.
- Once you're connected, you will
type your messages in the text bar near the bottom of the
window (above the utilities at the bottom). Pressing
your Enter key will send your messages to the room.
- If you want your text to appear as an action, rather than
the spoken word, type /me action (for example: /me
runs around the room in panic).
- Private messages can be sent and received. If someone
sends you a private message, you will see a bright red button
with their name on it at the bottom of the chat window next
to the Private arrow. You can read and respond to
their messages by clicking on the button. You can also initiate
a private conversation by double-clicking on the name of
the person you wish to speak to, in the name-list on the
right side of the screen. That will open a private message
window with them, as will right-clicking on their name and
choosing Query.
- To maneuver between windows, just
click on the button with the name of the window you
want. The room is designated by the tab marked #vindiesel.
You can tell which window has new messages in it because
its button will turn red. Don't worry about the button marked
status. That's just network information and nothing
you need to pay attention to.
- The room is controlled by a little
bot called X. More information about him can be found at
AbleNet.
Don't bother trying to engage him in conversation; there's
no actual live human being there.
- If you have any questions, ASK.
We are easy-going and we want you to have a good time. Anyone
with a + sign by their name, in the name list, knows
how things work in the room, and anyone with @ sign
by their name is a room Op. They can help you.
