They must be what's holding me in the now. Even if I got sent to the black.
He's smiling but the me but not me trapped in his goggles isn't.
and
The other me's raging in her flat glass prison.
and
She reminds me of things. I remember the rules now.
I think I’m starting to get too caught up in the progression of the story, things have started happening and I’m allowing myself to be pulled along in my eagerness to find out what happens next, where is this all leading?!, that I’m actually unable to comment on much in the way of specifics.
However the above quotes are a few of the instances in which I was momentarily brought up short in my reading by the impact taking my breath away.
I especially love Alice’s observations of the other
her. She reminds Alice of things, huh? Perhaps eventually she will remind Alice of her own sanity lurking deep beneath the surface? Not too soon, of course. Crazy-Alice-cam is too deeply embedded at this point to put aside easily. But maybe, when needed most,
the other her will break out of her flat glass prison and come to Crazy-Alice’s aid? Maybe give this “false keeper, dirty, tricky liar” Riddick what-for?
But for right now:
I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Don't take my feet away again!
Oh the poor dear! Just want to take her in my arms and soothe her!
Ratatosk: it’s been a long time since I’ve dealt with the tarot, but your ruminations to Ayabie on Alice’s similarities to the Eight of Swords was fascinating, stirred up a lot of memories! Golly: incredible literary references and tarot reflections. What bonuses to reading a great story!
Nicolina:
I have only a few words to say:
Riddick! Be nice to our Alice!
I’m with you 100%! and Ayabie:
Why am I picturin' ya all set to whoop up on him?
Nic’s not the only one winding up to clobber the big bag Riddick if he doesn’t cool his jets before doing poor Alice some serious damage!
